Recently I’ve been rediscovering my long lost love for Idlewild. I don’t know how I ever forgot.

Idlewild to me are –  the Barras, leaving school & starting college (then dropping out), a time before uni, a time before Glasgow got too trendy (or before I realised it was – before there were too many hipsters – or scensters as they used to be called), before social networking, a time when I still thought I’d go to art school, when I was just starting to go to gigs and indie nights and read the NME…….when the Barfly was still going. Glasgow Film Festival 2012

Only a month in & already 2012 has been one hell of a year for movies – and with an abundance of exciting stuff still to come, its shaping up to be a bit of a belter.

However, whilst awards season gets fully under way in February with a whole lot of celebrity wishy-washy rubbish we can all do without & the Academy dishing out honours to over hyped, sentimental nonsense –  I urge you to fill yer boots with none other than the Glasgow Film Festival instead. Run by the GFT, this wee guy can certainly give Edinburgh a run for its money never mind yer Sundance & the like. Continue reading
